Underground River Project, 2015

The Underground River Project explored the rural desert town of Beatty, NV and its surrounding landscape. Developed in collaboration with Tory Teppm at Goldwell Residency, it was an experimental alchemical equation framed by a “base station” and “sub-stations,” using sensory data gleaned from sites along the Amargosa River. This data was collected and “transmutated” at the base station – the Red Barn studio – in neighboring Rhyolite, a deserted mining town. Here, viewers entered a mystical mine installation through a wooden shaft, to experience the result of collected observations and meditations.
