Opposite Emotions, 2015
independent middle school, Los Angeles, CA
Opposite Emotions was an installation project executed with eight girls in an elective workshop at an independent middle school. The project explored themes of Perception, Energy, Light, Authority/Surveillance, and Love, loosely based on the young-adult novel, A Wrinkle In Time. The installation was based on a student’s concept of a peaceful ocean environment leading into a polluted space, culminating in an area to reflect and take a pledge. The project resulted from group visioning and community building, and incorporated elements of science, technology, photography, poetry, sound, video in a sculptural treatment of space.
The project was produced in tandem with Travis Reynolds, the school’s SmartLab and Tech coordinator.
