Downtown Ghost Town, 2007
downtown Las Cruces, NM
Downtown Ghost Town was a public installation project created with high school students to address issues of city redevelopment. Responding to the Cityʼs plan to demolish portions of a downtown mall, students used architectural Styrofoam molds found in a neighborhood dumpster to create a model-sized replica of the area. Situated within a high traffic farmer’s market near Halloween, the project served as a catalyst for community dialogue regarding an historic downtown landmark.
